Books

The one habit that has contributed to my personal growth is reading. Here are the best books that I have read and that have lasting effect on my life.

1. A Touch of Greatness - Frank Tibolt

Simply the best. This little book was first published in 1981 when its author, Frank Tibolt was already in his 80s. Full of common sense and hard-hitting, Frank Tibolt wastes no time with niceties. From the first page on, he tells you straight away what is needed from you if you want to achieve greatness. No fancy new world techniques and no promises that things will be wonderful. Just pure facts and the brutal truth.

I truly believe, if you can follow all the advice in this book, success is guaranteed.

If there is one self help book you must read, then this is the one.

 2. The Magic of Thinking Big - David J.Schwartz

This is an excellent book. It gives you workable methods. First published in 1979, its ideas and techniques are so original, its author had to invent a whole new vocabulary to express them.  Schwartz shows how you can get into the action habit, make your attitude your allies, build confidence and how to think like a leader.

 3. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Stephen R. Covey

This book has been hailed by many as one of the best self help books that has been written in recent times. Widely used by big corporations, Stephen Covey popularized the term paradigm shift. He also teaches how you can take control of your life.

If you are looking for book where you can use to direct your personal life and your business, this is the one book you must have.

 4. Brain Rules: 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School - John Medina

Molecular biologist John Medina shares his lifelong interest in how the brain sciences might influence our lives in more ways we think they do. Learn why sleeping is powerfully linked with the ability to learn. Learn how you can use the 12 principles outlined in this book to improve your life.

 5. Think Like A Winner - Walter Doyle Staples

First published in 1991, not many know of this book. Although The Touch of Greatness was published a good 10 years before this book, I read this one first and this and found inspiration from it.

It was also in this book that I first came across Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Dr Staples also puts across a method he calls Expectation Theory.

This is another book I highly recommend if you are interested in changing your life for the better.
